We work with you to establish the Organisation or NZQA Provider  that you will be assessing under, determine their assessment and moderation policies, process and their administration and reporting procedures.
 
Your Coach will establish a date where you will be able to assess your candiate(s) against two different unit standards. This date, your organisation requirements and our online resources will be integrated to develop your own learning and asessment plan which our Coach will support you through.
 
You will then submit a Portfolio of Evidence which will be asssessed against unit standards 4098 and 11281.
 
All this in your own time at your own place within the context of your own organisation.

Enrolment Process

To start the enrolment process email us and we will reply to your email and give you a call to discuss your specific situation and begin planning your course.
 
We will send you an email with our Enrolment Form, a pre course activity to get you started and instructions for payment. We will need to receive payment to receive our special offer and provide you with your log in details to gain access to our online learning resources.

Course Requirements
 
You will need to have access to a computer with a internet connection, a valid email address and a landline phone we can use for your 1 on 1 coaching sessions during work hours.
 

Becoming a Workplace Assessor

 
Edbiz will work with you to establish the industry training organisation that you will assessing under and their Assessor requirements to make sure that you will be able to meet their Assessor pre requisites when you apply to become a Workplace Assessor once you have gained Unit 4098 & Unit 11281.
 
Your Assesor Trainer will help you find out what Workplace procedures and Industry Training Organisation (ITO) assessment polices and procedures you will need to be aware of and follow for the two assessments that you will be conducting.
 
We will work with you to find and approve a person who can observe your assessments and provide evidence of your performance. This needs to be a person who holds Unit 4098.
 
Some ITOs need you to have completed Unit 4098 before you can register with them which means that you will may need to work alongside an exisiting registered Workplace Assessor with your ITO to report the assessments that you will be completing to be assessed against Unit 4098.
 
You will need to source pre approved assessment guides and schedules for the two assessments and your coach will work with you to plan, prepare for and conduct your assessments using the correct procedures and forms for your organisation.
 
 

Assessing for an NZQA Provider?

Your Coach will work with you to apply your Providers Quality Management System, Assessment and Moderation policies and procedures assessment polices and procedures to the assessments you will conduct. 

We will work with you to find and approve a person who can observe your assessments and provide evidence of your performance. This can be your manager or another tutor who holds Unit 4098.
 
Some Providers need you to have completed Unit 4098 before you can report unit standards so you may need to work alongside another tutor who is already qualified to assess.
 
You will need to source pre approved assessment guides and schedules for the two assessments and your coach will work with you to plan, prepare for and conduct your assessments using the correct procedures and forms for your organisation.

Our online assessor training  can be described as, directed and supported distance learning using online resources and on job training with visual aids, charts and handouts to use as assessment tools and Assessor resources as you develop your assessor practice.
We understand that distant learning requires more commitment from both the Adult Learner and the Adult Educator so we have included several delivery strategies within our approach.

We have a series of online presentations and activities to deliver the knowledge required to be an Assessor in New Zealand. This is combined with 1 on 1 coaching sessions over the phone and email to provide clarification and reinforcement of your learning, extra support and direction and motivation to complete the course and assessments.

You will apply your knowledge in your workplace to work through the processes.

Course Content


We introduce you to the tertiary education system and key organisations within it, standards based assessment and how assessment materials are designed to collect the evidence that you need to make assessment decisions as an Assessor and content expert.

We provide you with a tried and proven assessment process model to apply your knowledge to and practice with to develop good Assessor Practice.

We explain your organisation requirements, the role as an assessor, their responsibilities and how it all fits in place to deliver on the aims (or uphold the integrity) of the National Qualification Framework. we will also identify the moderation requirements expected of Assessors within your organisation and help you to achieve those.
We outline the key communication skills required to prepare and facilitate  assessment briefings with your candidiates and assessments in your context, make assessment decisions and provide feedback to your candidate.

We outline how you will report and complete the administration requirements for the assessments through your organisation to NZQA for the candidates.

We provide a tool and process to conduct a self review on your assessments using information from your candidates, observer, assessor trainers and your personal reflections to further develop your assessor practice.

The skills sets involved and knowledge required are not as indepth as what Workplace Assessors are expected to hold so we include this training in a seperate course. - Prepare Candidates for Assessment & Verify Evidence.

Flexible Timeframes

You will not have to leave work to do your Online Assessor Training so the timeframes are meant to be flexible
 
If you commit approximately 40 hours to do all your learning and on job practical activities and then complete the two assessments agreed, you can complete within 10 days
 
You can plan the timeframes of your Online Assessor Training Course around the scheduled dates of the two assessments that you will be doing
 
Our only requirement is that you need to have completed your assessment within 90 days of your start date
