Who are our Assessment Design Training Courses for?
Our Assessment Design Training is for Tutors, Teachers &/or Workplace Assessors who hold unit standard 4098 and are in a position to move into developing new assessment materials or modifying existing materials.
We tend to offer this course to the organisations who have had also completed the 4098 Assessor Training Courses and for organisation who have 6 or more people within their organisation or area looking to do the Assessment Designer Training.
Assessment Designers or Writers who hold US 11552 can:
Design your own assessments or guides for your learner or trainees in the context and environment of your organisation or training course.
Modify existing assessments that do not ‘pass’ internal or external pre assessment moderation or that need to be updated to a new version of the standard.
Develop assessment tasks or specific questions, scenarios for their specific course or candidates.
Submit their assessment materials for pre assessment moderation for approval prior to use within your organisation.

Design Assessment Course Overview
Our 1 Day Assessment Design course leads on from the 4098 Assessor Training Course and experience with assessing candidates against unit standards and takes Assessors through the process of designing assessment material.
This generally includes Common Assessment Tasks and Assessment Schedules if you are assessing for a NZQA Provider or School and Assessor Guides and Evidence & Judgment Guides or Schedules if you are assessing under an ITO.
Assessors will develop assessments that meet the requirements and context of your learners, organisation, industry training organisation &/or standard setting body.
The design assessment activities course is designed as an interactive workshop focusing on applying the principles of quality assessment design. We utilise our proven design process to analysis the unit standards involved, select appropriate and valid assessment methods and develop assessment tasks or activities.
Assessment Designers then follow the organisation or widely accepted Provider Assessment Schedule or Evidence & Judgment Guide format to prepare evidence and judgment statements that directs Assessors to making consistent, fair assessment decisions based on sufficient and current evidence.
Assessment & Post Course Timeframes
Candidate Designers will then apply the knowledge , skills and process to their organisation for another two assessments that need to meet your internal quality assurance and moderation requirements. This evidence will then be compiled to produce a portfolio of evidence for assessment against unit standards 11552.
Please note:
1. The two sets of assessment material must be approved as meeting internal or external moderation requirements
2. You must seek out and consider stakeholder input . For example a Learner or an Assessor
One or both of these requirements may take time to process and one leads to the other. ie An Assessor cannot use assessments until they have been approved so allow for these timeframes after the course and after you have designed the two assessments.
